Cornflake Christmas Wreaths – To make these cute and tasty little wreaths, we’ve swapped out puffed rice for cornflakes, added a bit of green gel food colour and decorated with festive sprinkles. A fun one to make with the kids. These will make 8-12 wreaths depending on size.
Ingredients
- 45g butter
- 300g white marshmallows (mini ones melt faster)
- Green gel food colour
- 180g cornflakes
- 100g white chocolate, roughly chopped
- Sprinkles
TO DECORATE:
Method
- 1. Melt butter in a large pot over medium low heat. Add the marshmallows and stir occasionally until they’ve completely melted and mixed with the butter. You can increase heat to medium if you need do.
- 2. Add a dab of green gel colour and mix well. Add more if needed until a lovely vibrant green.
- 3. Add the cornflakes and stir well so that they’re all coated in melted marshmallow mixture.
- 4. Remove from heat and leave to cool until you can safely handle the mixture, about 10 minutes.
- 5. Line a tray with parchment paper, set aside.
- 6. Rub your hands with a bit of vegetable oil, this will help the mixture from sticking to you. Pull off a bit of the cornflake mix and shape it into a thick sausage then bring the ends together so that you have a doughnut shape with a hole in the middle. Neaten the wreath until you’re happy with the shape then place on the parchment lined tray. Continue until all of the mixture has been used.
- 7. Melt the white chocolate in a heat proof bowl set over a pot of steaming water. Drizzle the white chocolate on each wreath then decorate with sprinkles before chocolate sets.
- 8. Leave at room temperature to set completely. Store at room temperature in an airtight container.
