Baileys Banana Choc Trifle Baileys, banana, brownies, custard, caramel and cream, what a combination! We’ve used store-bought brownies, custard and Baileys whipped cream which makes this delicious medley of ingredients a breeze to make. Of course, you can definitely make any of the individual elements yourself, but we love the simplicity of this dessert for occasions like Christmas where it’s nice to have one less thing to bake. Assemble in individual glasses (great for kiddos or anyone who prefers not to include the Baileys) or as a traditional sharing trifle.

Ingredients

  • 6 chocolate brownies
  • 6 tbsp Baileys cream liqueur
  • 3 large bananas
  • 500g pot vanilla custard
  • 6 generous tbsp salted caramel sauce
  • 6 generous tbsp *Baileys whipped cream
  • 25g milk chocolate, grated
  • *If you’re unable to find Baileys whipped cream, simply whip together 250ml double cream with 1 tbsp Baileys until soft peak.

Method

  • 1. Cut the brownies into cubes and drop the cubes into 6 serving glasses (1 brownie per glass).
  • 2. Drizzle 1 tbsp Baileys over the brownie pieces in each glass.
  • 3. Slice the banana and divide between the glasses (half a banana per glass).
  • 4. Top each one with 2-3 generous spoons of custard, then top with a large dollop of Baileys whipped cream. (If making ahead, you can pop the glasses into the fridge at this stage until ready to serve.)
  • 5. Drizzle salted caramel on top of the cream then finish off with some grated milk chocolate. Serve.
  • 6. Tip: If assembled in a large sharing dish and you find you have leftovers, the banana will brown but it will still be perfectly edible the next day, simply cover and store in the fridge.
  • 7. Tip: If serving to kids or to anyone who prefers not to include the Baileys, simply leave the Baileys out of the recipe and use plain whipped cream.
