Taste of Dublin is back for 2018! With 25 world-class chefs, 20 top restaurants and 120 masterclasses this year’s Taste of Dublin is one not to be missed. It will take place on 14th – 17th June 2018 in the beautiful surrounds of The Iveagh Gardens, Harcourt Street, Dublin 2.
Taste of Dublin theme for 2018 is the ‘Food Lover’s Playground’ (inspired by Neff) – where food lovers come to play!
This year’s festival will be the finest to date, with a host of exciting new features in the mix to add even more flavour to Ireland’s premier food and drink festival.
Taste of Dublin’s restaurants and sponsors have really embraced the spirit of the theme – busily dreaming up their playground plans! Interpretations include: enjoying a cocktail on the top floor of a wooden tram – to an entire menu composed of food in various shades of pink. Taste of Dublin 2018 promises to be unique and appealing to all the senses.
It’s a first for Taste of Dublin! Celebrity Chef Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, one of the most famous seasonal and ethical food advocates in the world is coming to Dublin to appear at Ireland’s top food and drink festival.
Candice Brown – of the Great British Bake Off will share her winning baking secrets and personality as part of a chef line-up which includes: Adrian Martin – Food Writer and TV chef, Executive Chef Anna Haugh, Aoife Noonan of Glovers Alley, Ed Cooney of the Merrion Hotel, Edward Hayden – TV chef, Kevin Dundon of Dunbrody House, Rachel Allen of Ballymaloe, Robin Gill – of The Dairy and Masterchef judge, Rory O’Connell of Ballymaloe, Sharon Hearne-Smith – Food Stylist and Cookbook Author and Sunil Ghai – Head Chef of Pickle, among many others.
A first this year at Taste of Dublin is its biggest ever demo stage: the ‘The Neff Taste Kitchen’ where attendees will have the opportunity to watch their favourite culinary idols cook their best recipes. Top chefs will show food enthusiasts tips and tricks, allowing them to recreate their iconic dishes at home. Part of the same experience is the Producers’ Table, which will be home to some of Ireland’s finest food producers.
World Class is the world’s most prestigious and respected mixology programme, committed to celebrating and elevating the craft of bartending. World Class Spirits and Taste of Dublin have joined forces to unveil the ultimate in luxury drinks experiences. Visitors will be invited to explore fresh and innovative cocktails and masterclasses using the finest in luxury spirits including Roe & Co Irish Whiskey and Ketel One Vodka, all expertly crafted by Ireland’s leading bartending talent. For the first time, the World Class Bartender of the Year Competition will bring its Irish final to Taste of Dublin with the winner being crowned live at The Iveagh Gardens on Sunday the 17th.
Not everyone is a natural culinary creative, and sometimes it’s hard to get a handle even on the simple stuff. So this year Simon Lamont is hosting a brand new experience ‘The Lazy Basics’ where he will teach visitors handy hacks in 20 mins so they can impress friends and family at their next dinner party. Really embracing the theme, this will definitely be the opportunity to get to grips with how to create great dishes that are “all play with no work”!
In the line-up of restaurants the food lovers theme will be showcased by such restaurants as: Greene’s of Cork, Roly’s Bistro, China Sichuan, The Port House, Saba, Suesey Street, Pickle and Jaipur.
Top returning attractions at this year’s Taste of Dublin include the Daily Specials – giving visitors the chance to enjoy signature dishes from one restaurant each day, O’Brien’s Wines return with their tasting experience, the Style Afternoon returns on Friday the 15th of June – sponsored by Connaught Gold – promising style-studded summer fun for the glamourous of Dublin society, the family afternoons will return with inspirational games and face-painting, Destination Thailand will once again allow visitors to transport themselves to Thailand through cuisine and cocktails.
