Pink Lady® Adopt a Tree Update plus our Apple & Cheddar Sourdough  

Back in April we teamed up with Pink Lady® as part of their ‘Adopt a Tree’ initiative. 

This wonderful initiative allows all apple lovers to get involved to find out more about the life cycle of apples. Read more here.

Here is the update so far….  

September is the month of colouring! Growers delicately remove the excess leaves to guarantee the apples get as much sunlight as possible because at this time, Pink Lady® apples are still green. They gradually take on their pink colour thanks to the temperature differences between day and night. The cooler the nights and the sunnier the days from September until the harvest at the end of October, the more the apple will take on its unique colour. The growers also make sure no water is wasted by watering in the morning and evening which avoids the evaporation of water and allows for the good development of the tree and fruit.
