Research from SuperValu has revealed what’s going on in the kitchen ahead of the most romantic day of the year. Whether you’re a budding Kevin Dundon, or just a walking kitchen nightmare, 61% of Irish people are staying in this Valentine’s Day for a home-cooked meal.

1 in 5 have admitted to passing a ready meal off as their own creation with 38% of those going as far as arranging it on a fancy plate to hide the evidence and 37% getting the packaging straight out to the recycling bin. Interestingly, it’s the couples in the capital that are the most likely to tell the white lie, with 28% of the respondents telling little white lies by claiming they cooked the meals themselves from scratch, living in Dublin.
