Ingredients

    FOR THE DARK CHOCOLATE FONDUE
  • 100g 70% good quality dark chocolate, finely chopped
  • 125g fresh cream
  • 1 tbsp orange liqueur (optional)
  • FOR THE MILK CHOCOLATE FONDUE
  • 100g good quality milk chocolate, finely chopped
  • 75g fresh cream
  • 2-3 tsp whiskey (optional)
  • FOR THE WHITE CHOCOLATE FONDUE
  • 100g good quality white chocolate, finely chopped
  • 50g fresh cream
  • 1-2 tsp Irish cream liqueur (optional)
  • TO DIP (JUST A FEW IDEAS…)
  • Berries of choice, marshmallows, meringues, wafer biscuits

Method

  • 1. To make the chocolate fondue, place choice of chocolate and cream together in a heatproof bowl. Set over a pot of barely simmering water and stir together until chocolate has melted and sauce is creamy and smooth.
  • 2. Alternatively, place bowl in microwave and microwave for 20-30 seconds, stir then microwave again for 20-30 seconds, stir again. Repeat until chocolate has mostly melted but there are still un-melted pieces in the cream. Remove from microwave and stir until all the chocolate has melted and sauce is creamy and smooth. Tip: It’s important not to let the mixture get too hot in the microwave otherwise the sauce may split, so the residual heat left in the bowl will help to melt the chocolate.
  • 3. Optional, stir in choice of tipple to the chocolate sauce.
  • 4. Pour chocolate sauce into clean bowls and arrange on a serving platter. Arrange the berries, biscuits and sweets around the bowls then enjoy!
  • 5. You can make the chocolate sauce ahead of time and keep covered in the fridge. To melt, microwave in 10 second bursts, stirring in between, until liquid enough for dipping. Leftover chocolate sauce can be firmed up in the fridge and rolled into truffles! Will keep for up to a week in the fridge.
  • 6. Chocolate fondue amounts are easily halved to make less sauce, or doubled to make more.
