These baking and confectionary wizards will recreate some of Roald Dahl and Sir Quentin Blake’s best loved characters all in the delicious medium of cake and sugar!
Cakes created by: BFG – Niamh Geraghty of Perfectionist Confectionist.
See beautiful icing versions of Fantastic Mr Fox, The BFG, Charlie, Willie Wonka and many more.(FREE ENTRY) Sat 13 and Sun 14 Sept at The Ark Temple Bar.
Niamh Geraghty of Perfectionist Confectionist based in North County Dublin regularly gathers together cake artists in what they call cake collaborations where each tries to outdo the others with the scale and spectacle of their cakes all around a specific theme. Normally cakes are submitted and judged online based on a pictures, however this is the second time that one of their collaborations is being exhibited to the public, following a hugely successful Simone Walsh exhibit in the Doorway Gallery as part of Culture Night 2013.

Niamh says “Once we had decided on the wonderful theme of Roald Dahl’s characters and received permission from the Dahl estate and from Sir Quentin Blake to use their creations, we immediately felt that The Ark would be the perfect venue to showcase the cakes as we wanted somewhere dedicated to children and families.”
Maria Fleming, The Ark’s Theatre Programmer says “The Ark is delighted to provide a home for such an unusual exhibition. With a dream combination of Roald Dahl’s epic storytelling coupled with cake – what’s not to love?”
The exhibition is open Sat 13 Sept 10am-5pm and Sun 14 Sept 12pm-5pm and it’s FREE. See www.ark.ie for further details
