Neven Is The Cream Of the Crop!
Wed Jul 23 2014
What floats our boat when it comes to sweet treats? Well, thanks to Avonmore, the results are in. They sent out the clarion call through their website to find out what Ireland’s favourite dessert really is. The results were a mix of old school and restaurant-tastic. Pavlola came out as the leading choice in several counties including Dublin, Kildare, Wicklow and Wexford. Kerry’s favourite dessert is Apple Tart, while Kilkenny favours Eton Mess. People in Galway opted for Strawberries & Cream. Sticky Toffee Pudding is the favourite in Clare while those living in Offaly declared Apple & Rhubarb Crumble to be their favourite. Other favourites throughout Ireland included Cheesecake; Tiramasiu; Profiteroles; Apple Tart; Brownies; Crème Brulee and old fashioned trifle.
With this in mind, Avonmore Fresh Dessert Cream have teamed up with Ireland’s number one chef, Neven Maguire, to create a range of four amazing summer desserts, all with a modern twist. Speaking at the launch, Neven said “I have travelled all over the world and when I come home I am always reminded that our dairy produce beats, hands down, any other country in the world. We are so lucky because Irish fresh cream is the best in the world and the taste is unique. I have used Avonmore’s Fresh Dessert Cream, a new addition to the Avonmore cream range, because it is extra thick, slightly sweetened, and is ready to pour over your favourite dessert.”
Filming on the 6th series of Neven’s Home Chef Series for RTE 1 begins in October 2014 and it is currently being broadcast in the United States on the PBS Channel, which is to run for three years. In September 2014 Neven will bring out his 11th cookbook entitled “Nation’s Favourite Food – Fast”.
Neven’s recipes along with a wide range of other desserts can be seen on Avonmore’s recipe website
